Mike Arzt

Mike has been a force of the winter sports industry for over nineteen years, helping shape an industry close to his heart. Mike grew up snowboarding the mountains of Vermont, where he decided to take his passion for the mountains, the snow, and the sport and turn it into a career. Today, thanks to many years at some of the top names in the industry, Mike has an in-depth business knowledge of branding, development, athletes, and imagery that helped form The Public Works. Not to mention a number of passport stamps in search of the world’s best snow.

Mike first began at Burton Snowboards in Vermont in 1993 where he worked in various positions including retail showroom, sales, marketing, pro-athlete support, and demo center operations. His seven years at Burton opened doors to work with some of the top players and athletes in the industry. It is also at Burton where he initially met Frank Phillips, co-founder of The Public Works.

In 2001, Mike made the move to Colorado to join Airwalk where for two years he was the global snowboard marketing manager, overseeing all aspects of the business including merchandising, trade shows, online presence, product distribution, athlete negotiations, imagery, and media relations. In 2004, Helly Hansen called and a long-lasting relationship began. Mike continues to manage their multimedia projects and the Global Pro-Team.

Along the way, Mike has become a professional photographer and videographer with exceptional editing and production skills that have landed his work in nationally-broadcasted films. His artistic eye has allowed him to travel the world creating images for both editorial and commercial use.

Mike’s experience in the industry has garnered him an abundance of associates in the action sports world including professional athletes, team managers, agents, photographers, and key contacts within top resorts, hard and soft good companies, and the media.

Outside of his professional skills, Mike also excels at metal and wood working, is a self-proclaimed mechanic for cars, bikes and snowmobiles, and will pick up any sport including motocross, wakeboarding, surfing, and any type of biking. Mike attended the University of Vermont, Burlington and now lives in Evergreen, Colorado with his wife and two kids.

The Public Works is a full-service project management firm, with expertise from industrial design, engineering, and fabrication through creative and marketing deliverables. It is the power of strong relationships built on integrity and soul, and shared passion for brand stimulation that makes The Public Works one of a kind. Their Colorado facility, which is solar-powered, heated from downed beetle-kill wood, and utilizes biodiesel made from used fryer oil to power their fleet, is a fully-equipped fabrication/manufacturing shop and photography studio.
